JailSessions - Selfportrait
Exploring the idea of freedom in a prison cell
JailSessions - Berlin
As I startet the self portrait challenge in March 2020, out of boredom and frustration, I didn’t expect that it could take me jail.
An abandoned jail. Untouched since the 60s. Full of little stories written on the walls.
A place with a lot of stories but very. little history. Impossible to find official texts about the life of the prison, some tales, but no historical research, only a heavy feeling in the belly.
Political opponent, war prisoner, juvenile…
Most of the people kept in this prison were been placed there because of their political believes.
Tortured.
As I broke the mirror, I listen to the sound echoing a long the walls. And I felt the roar of injustice rushing through my veins.
This is about the process of creation
Where the idea gets born from walls, light, emotions to the creation of a picture, repeated all over again in an hour, to create a serie, exploring an abandoned prison cell.
