Creating a 85+m wall painting

When I travel, I often try to meet some local artists through social media. When I reached out to Effe for the first time, he kindly asked, why I was doing so. I tried to explain my interest of getting to know their perception of the city and to help me shape my own understanding of it. I appreciate the artist sensibility about a place, especially where they live, because they often tell a much rawer, colourful and vibrant story about their city and every other city guide.

Before meeting Effe for the first time, I was impressed by all the projects that he pulls together. I slowly got to understand, that he also has a full time job at a national portuguese newspaper and all what he was doing, was just aside form his working hours, based on passion and dedication. Useless to say that I felt myself like I was looking for excuses….

When he told me that we was working on a 85+m wall in Lisbon, and that I would be there around the same time as he would be painting, I just had to pop by and see the magic by myself!

And I found Effe and Catarina, hidden in the shade, working on this huge wall, already looking stunning after 3 intense days of work

Catarina, his girlfriend, is the mental and logistic support, she document the creative process and create beautiful pictures of Effe’s work and she also gives a hand wherever he needs it.

I love to dive into. the creative process and watch how things are getting created. To discover little details I wasn't aware of and catch the passion and joy of artist doing what they love.
